Didn't want to steal Dons T-5 gears thread so I'll start another. My thoughts of getting a Lentech AOD faded when I started adding up costs versus replacing the old T-5 with a new T-5Z, besides that I found a T-5Z. With my old T-5, which is shot, I had miserable 60' times. Best was 1.80 with 26 x 10.5 ET Streets and 3.89 gears. The RPM drop between first and second (3.35 first 1.99 second) seemed alot since I had traction issues going into second. When I swap to the T-5Z with a 2.95 first gear and a 1.94 second, will I have the same issue. Currently shifting at 6200-6300. Also should I expect better launching? My current best is [email protected] This is in my 65 kcode coupe: 347 Comp 282S Victor Jr 750 DP Quick Fuel Edelbrock RPM Heads 1.90 intakes All suggestions will be graciously accepted. ------------------ Mike Golliver MCA Gold Card Judge-Modifieds 65 Kcode coupe 347 stroker modified 5-speed MCA Retired 66 convertible-3 dueces and a 5-speed with a 289 89 T-Bird Super coupe 01 Mustang GT Convt

The torque of the 347 is better suited to the 2.95 gears Mike. You can realistically expect a sixty foot decrease of .010 to .015 which you can double in 1/4 mile ET.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First SS/MA in the TENS! Also,, My 331 pulls hard and mixing the 2:95's with the 4:00 rearend gears,, I hoping that should be a pretty good fomular.. Using 26x10 M/T Drags on 10x15 Wheels.. How about that Alex.. ------------------ Don 6T6 Fastback 331 STROKER, T-5 Royal Blue Metallic w/Red-Blue Ghost Flames http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/BigD.html First Time out.. 13.384 sec @ 103.388 mph

Don, this is a fun site for playing with gears. I know nothing replaces real world, but it might get you close. http://www.drivetrainsuperstores.com/calculate.asp With your new set up you'll have an even lower gear in first. Old set up was 6.90 total and the new will be 6.95 total. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe 351w C4 Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc.
