I am seeing a few performance T-5's that they have a 2:95 1st Gear,, instead of the standard 3:35 1st Gear..

Seems that is quite a difference coming out of the hole.. Is the 2:95 more of a road racing setup..

The 1983-84 Mustang and Capri T5 has the 2.95 first gear as well as the aftermarket "World Class" version T5

Due to the design (i.e. shaft center distance limitations), the only way they can achieve a reasonable amount of torque capacity out of a T-5 is to jack up the first gear ratio. The 3.35 ratio may be more preferable, but the likelihood of wounding it is greater. A lot of it's life expectancy depends on what engine you'll have in front of it, and how well you hook it up on the track.

What rear gears you have would better suit what first gear you need. if you have 411 you might not want 3:35 gears also depends on tire size alot of variables.

I have 3:35's in the T-5 (out of '89 GT) in my 6T6 right now.. I had a NON WC with the 2:95's.. I personally prefer the 3:35's..

When I get my 9" setup it will have 4:00 gears with 26" Slicks & 15x10" Weld Wheels..

It has an 8" with 3:55's now and pulls damned hard in first gear..
