Can either one of these be installed in our early Mustangs? I know the AOD can but not sure what extra would be involved with the electronic one.

That's exactly what I told that dude. Those late model guys can be so anal sometimes...it's just an electric switch to lockout the OD

The AODE is a updated AOD, to be EEC controled, instead of manual controled like the AOD with the TV cable. It was replaced by a 4R70W, which is the same basic design, but improved. The computer controls all the shifts, and also uses electronic control of the converter lock up. ------------------ 1993 Tbird 393 stroker, 3500 RPM converter http://members.tccoa.com/393bird/

Yes, it is Baumann that makes the stand alone computer. The AOD-E and 4R70W are better than the AOD and incorporate many of the upgrades needed to survive in HP applications. But I had a hard time with the price of the trans and the computer when I did the swap in my '68. For the $250 I paid on e-Bay I could buy at least 3 more AOD's before I get to the price of an E. But it sure would have been nice to have the control the E and the Baumann computer allow. Maybe when the AOD wears out or breaks.B-loose
