Is it a bad idea to run the heater along the intake runners ? I need to change my fuel line and the heater hose from the intake is in the way. If I ran it under the fuel line and along the intake it would out good for fitment. But does the heat along the intake effect anything ?------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe 351w C4 Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

well you could always purhchase some header wrap or somethingand cover the hoses to kind insulate them. but i dont think that it wil hurt anything. the inline 6s had the heater hose runnign through the carb base and on top of the intake log.------------------ 1966 mustang coupe 200ci, 3.03 3 speed tranny holley weber two barrel conversion, msd 6a ignition, blaster 2 coil, Duraspark I, 2 inch exhaust to a super turbo, stock rear (3.20),ram air install complete (homemade) white w/ black interior, soon be painted (i hope) with the R model apron and gt350 hood scoop

Will the heater hose add heat to the intake runners or are they about the same temp ?------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe 351w C4 Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

Think coolant temp might be a little higher than intake manifold temp, but if rerouting the hose cleans the engine compartment up, it could be worth it. 2cents. JD

yea thats true to. um my intake gets probably just as hot as the heater hose. but this is an inline with the exhuast man next to it. make a nice peice of aluminum cover for it. ------------------ 1966 mustang coupe 200ci, 3.03 3 speed tranny holley weber two barrel conversion, msd 6a ignition, blaster 2 coil, Duraspark I, 2 inch exhaust to a super turbo, stock rear (3.20),ram air install complete (homemade) white w/ black interior, soon be painted (i hope) with the R model apron and gt350 hood scoop

Fastmanz: I'm looking into the same thing and wondering about that tubeing that goes on the boss 302. don't know anything about them but NPD has 2 lines from heater, along the int. to the front of block to the pump and intake on a windsor. I have accsess to stainless tubeing and able to weld them in tandom with clips mounted by the valve cover bolts.Look under NPD # 18696 hoses, tubes, elbows Just a thought. good luck ! let me know what you think!

I've looked into that too. I think it would look real cool. I too was thinking about making something out of tubing instead of buying the one for the boss $$$. Either that or capping off the outlets and not having a heater at all. But I get cold if it gets below 60.

If you're gonna cap the outlets, you may as well delete the entire heater. Save a substantial amout of weight. But, it sure sux not having a defroster.(Water leak! ) JD

My coil and electronics are located where my heater coil and blower motor used to be. I do not drive when it is raining and lower the windows if need be. i have had the heater hose laying on my intake and it has never been a problem, you just have to watch for any sharp or any kind of edge that when you engine revs it doesn't cut into the heater hose after time.
