THANKS, MIKE R !! That was WAY TOO SWEET !! I really like the part that read; "...the new ['65] the new Falcon. Its the most technically advanced car on the team, with the 427 Ford SOHC engine, a sophisticated suspension package and the latest in modern accessory technology. Under National Street Car Association rules, that car is one of the quickest and fastest Nostalgia Super Stock cars on the planet having run a best of 8.88 at 154.13 mph with a four speed." Thanks for sharing that here!! Ryan

I've seen the 422 team at numerous tracks and shows around the Md/Va/Pa area in recent years. They are everything a frustrated Ford fan could have hoped for back in the early/mid 60s. What an organization!! Their "semi" rig rivals those of the big NASCAR teams, and the race cars are simply fantastic. I can't imagine the effort and $$$$ involved. Furthermore, I have never heard FE engines scream so loud and pull the wheels on those big Galaxies so powerfully. In fact, the first time I saw them, I had to look for myself to see if they really were FE big blocks. As a "veteran" Ford guy, I really appreciate what these guys are doing.------------------ Bernie Frank 66 Fastback restomod (12.8 @ 112mph) 85 GT (preserved) 2000 SVT CONTOUR

A very nice piece indeed! I'm not so sure about some of the historical info, though. There was a 62 lightweight Galaxie, I know that, and that wasn't mentioned. It seemed like the 63.5 was the first one according to the article. Alex might remember more of that sort of info. He likely has documentation. The team is a really great thing for us Ford folks. Gives us something to see besides GM. It is true that the GM and Mopar teams dominated until the 64 T-bolts came along. 62s were limited to the 406 which was a killer NASCAR power plant then, but they were heavy and didn't make enough power for drag racing in heavy S/S sedans. The 427s in lighter cars changed the sport forever. Great read and super to see something about Fords and nostalgia racing. Those were great days! ------------------ 63 Falcon 377 Cleveland stroker Flying Toilet alchohol injection. 6.19 @ 110 MPH 1/8 mile 2002 Ranger FX4 daily driver 2000 F350 PSD Crew cab dually - Like commuting in a B52!! 98 US Cargo Phantom II 28'

We started going up to York U.S.30 on a regular basis in the early 60s. Back then, it seemed like Dave Strickler and his maroon 61 Chevy "Old Reliable" was the "star" stocker. This status continued with his white 1962 Chevy. However in 1963, the 427 lightweight Galaxies began to make some noise around the country and we Ford fans held out hope that they would be competitive. The "Drag News" publications of the day had numerous accounts of Ford wins around the local tracks; but I never personally witnessed any of the Ford hot shoes coming out on top. Of course, Mopar had come on very strong in 62,63 too. Ford finally had the answer in 1964 with the Thunderbolt. I still have a lot of the old "Drag News" booklets from those days and it's interesting to read through them. There is a York U.S. Dragway reunion every year now, and lots of the old Super Stock cars are displayed including a large contingent from 422 Motorsports (to combat all the Chevies and Mopars). Also, there has been a 1962 "lightweight" Galaxie on display that had been driven by Bruce Larson. ------------------ Bernie Frank 66 Fastback restomod (12.8 @ 112mph) 85 GT (preserved) 2000 SVT CONTOUR
