I changed the carb and my car still does the same thing. It will start and run but after running for a few seconds or longer. It will start to idle down like it's way to rich. If I go to take off it acts like it's loading up and then runs just fine. Once I idle it agian it goes back to loading up or acting up at idle or when cruising real slow. It did this with my old 600 holley which was a little fat. And the rebuilt 700dp I just put on it. I changed the plugs they were all real black way to rich. Even with the new plugs it does the same thing.I've changed the PV many times. I've had the carb apart 3 times to clean it out. I can't find any leaks. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe 351w C4 Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

Something tugs at my memory and says "lower the float level". I think it's because that worked for me in the past. How's the weather been? John

Hey Ron. There is two gaskets that fit between the metering block and the main housing. One has a big cut out. One has a little hole that lines up with a hole in the metering block. If you use the wrong one, gas runs out the bottom of the carb. Dont ask how I know this...... Also might check the float level and see whats going on there. Thanks, I keep lowering the floats and little at a time. I have site plugs and I can see the gas just reaching the plug. Should I pull out the site plugs out. And set the floats with out them in, or just keep on going lower to where I can't see the gas in the site plugs at all ? John, it getting better, well at least snow wise. Now it's just darn cold. It was 7 degree's out last night.

Yes I did try it with it and without. And it doesn't make a difference. The thing that stumps me the most is it was doing the same thing with the other carb too ? How could two different carb cause the same effect ? I've used PV from 4.5-6.5 with no difference. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe 351w C4 Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

No I've never had one ? I did notice that once in while the squiters will drip alittle, which got better with lower floats.

I thought not. Get a regulator and guage. Cheap one from Summit is fine. I like the line with the guage built in myself for street cars. Set the regulator to 5-6 lbs max at idle and your problem will be solved. If you can locate a product called Fil-to-reg, that would be better yet. It is a not to sophisticated, numbered adjustable fuel pressure regulator with a clear filter. Cheap and easy to install. I used to swear by them. You will need a 3/8 one if they are still available.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First SS/MA in the TENS! Ron if you have a NAPA store close. Call them and see if they have a 730-2368 regulator. Thats a dial type 3/8". It goes from 1 to 5 psi with a max of 10 psi in.

Would the holley # 12-803 work just like the Napa one ? It's says it's 4.5-9psi ? I have a few summit gift cards. That would help out right now with the $$$. Sure, the Summit one will function fine. Just more work and small parts on your part. Fittings, hose, etc. The NAPA one shouldn't be more than $10-$15.

The Holley unit does not come with fittings or a guage. You will spend over $50 by the time you are done. The $20 deal from Napa is right up your alley. Ok I got the one from Napa today. Now I see what you guys were talking about. It's real easy to hook up and adjust. I just need to make some room in the garage. Once I get it all hooked up and tested I'll let you guys know if it works. It doesn't look like a high flowing unit but it should do the job. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe 351w C4 Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc.
