I know I need a 157th 10.5 bolt pattern 50oz flexplate. My Question is this! If I use the serp belt sytem Can I use a regular water pump if I am only running the alt and water pump. If I can than what size belt is needed. Does anyone have pics of this set up. I will be running a duraspark setup I have on my 289 and carb Holley 600 and intake also i will need to switch the pan front New oilPump with my pickup timing cover and what ever else you can give me info on so I can buy everything to make it a pull both motors and swap fest.. Thank you, Bruce Williams I am sorry to be a pain in the arse.

The water pump needs to be for serpentine. You can drill a dipstick hole into the timing cover but if you swap to an earlier timing cover it needs to be the type for a left side water pump outlet or you'll hide the timing marks. You could run the serpentine if you use an idler pulley or a tensioner mounted to the drivers side.

I have a 302 already in my 66 mustang so it has the early timing cover front sump pan alluminum intake manifold holley 600 duraspark ignition ect. for donor parts I was just thinking that the pulley is a 4 bolt on the 5.0 and mine is a 3 bolt so what will it need to convert it. Or why cant I use the serp pulley on a older pass inlet waterpump?? bruce

If it's a hydraulic roller cam engine make sure you use a "steel" distributor gear. You need an 1985 GT Mustang distributor. The one and only year that a Duraspark was in a roller engine!

I could be wrong (it's happened before, I've seen me do it) but it has a 15426378 patteren and its not the H.O. By the way whats the difference in power between a pass car 5.0 and the 5.0 HO????? Thank you all for the great Info I always try to give more than they need cause you never know who knows what, so its better to tell them something they know rather than assume and they don't..Just my thoughts.. You can run the standard rotation pump if you find a water pump pulley that is ribbed or a set of v-belt pulleys with a 4 bolt crank. The ribbed water pump pulleys can be found on some mid 80s 4 cylinders with a/c delete.

why cant I use the one of the 89 5.0 motor and put that on a regular waterpump. But if I can which 4 bolt crank pulley will be right for my 66 pulleys (alt& Waterpump) Thank you Bruce Alex, Steve, ANyone else????? More input is always good If I take the Gear off the fuel inj dist and put it on my carb duraspark that should work right? anything here I should be concerned with.. I will check for proper meshing after I install the gear onto my dizzy.

I put a non-serpentine water pump on the 5.0 in my truck. I used v-belt pulleys and brackets off an early 70s pickup. It's been running fine for three years with that set-up. Before that I had 351C pulleys on it. The brackets were "rigged" up and I changed the set-up to make it look better.------------------ Kevin 1996 SVT Cobra (#522) 1967 F100 w/85 Roller Cam 5.0, 5-Speed, 4.11 Detroit Locker, GT Mustang SEFI 1973 "Q" Code Mach1, 3/4 Vinyl Top, Fold-Down Rear Seat, A/C
