I'm finishing up my 66 and all I need to do is pick a rear end. This will be my track car. I can get a complete build 9" full spool, 35 spline, bearings, 3.73. Or a complet 8.8 eaton posi, 31 spline, 3.73. The price difference is about $800 bucks. I've talked to several people and say I should be fine with the 9" and full spool if I don't plane on driving it a lot. The 347 should make around 380 rwhp n/a. I'm also going to spray a 200 shot would the 3.73 be o.k. or should I get 4.10's. I will be shifting around 6700 with a 26" tire.

While the 8.8 is certainly strong enough , and certainly more affordable, if you can swing it get the 9inch. It sounds as if it is build to take anything you are going to throw at it! Plus, if you need to make a ratio change, the 9 inch is way easier to change out than laying under the car or tearing out the whole axle to complete a gear swap on an 8.8 axle.

Good advice above.^^

You might want a 3.89 gear if you think you'll hit 125+ in the 1/4 otherwise 4.10s will work well. Is this a auto or manual tranny? You won't need that strong a 9" with an automatic. My daughter's car has a 9" with 3.89 gears, c-4 w/T-brake, 28 splined Moser axles, cheap full spool, single ribbed center section, stock pinion support, in a '58 housing. Pretty low budget rear. It's held up great for three years doing 1.42 60'ers, since we 86'd the T-5.

The 8.8 is a good rear too, just harder to make gear changes. The 8.8 is more efficient at transfering h.p. than the 9" but I don't think you'll notice the difference.
