I need to re-order soem main bearings for my 557 BBF. My paperwork has Federal Mogul 134M main bearings (for a 429/460) listed in a couple of places. But, when I tore it down, the bearings themselves have the following:

7186 CH U
FM (FM stamped letters are different type font)
STD
10. 01
262N

I'm wondering if they used another mfg's bearings and just relabled them since the FM stamp had a different type font. It's sort of like for a while there if you ordered pistons you dind't know until you opened the box if you were getting FM, TRW, Speed Pro or Sealed Power. LOL

The rods were simple enough. The bearing stamp matched the paperwork. Clevite CB743H

Thanks
David Cole

Sounds like federal mogul bearings made in Oct. 2001. I'm guessing that you have the right number, but are different on the bearings, I've seen that a couple of times on federal mogul bearings, all the clevites I've delt with have the same number on them as on the box. Federal moguls tech line number is 1-800-325-8886. Give them a call to make sure.

Dave, the 134M is the set number which includes 4 regular main bearings and a thrust.
