Hi all,Looks like I need a new damper for my 557 BBF. I tore it down yesterday for a winter freshen up. Pretty much looked good with a just a couple of items to correct. More on the others later, but I did find a problem with my harmonic damper. When I took the crank trigger wheel off I found the rbuber that bonds the inner and outer ring was coming out. It's a Ford Racing unit. Made by Cyco in Australia. Same as the Summit Racing in-house brand and Pro-Race. Called their US distributor today and they said they don't rebuild them. Called Damper Dudes in Ca. next. They do a great job on stock dampers. They said they could do it until they asked how many rpm and engine size. Could've heard a pin drop when I said 7000 rpm and it was a 557 bbf. He then said the type rubber they use is stock type and he was worried it couldn't hold up to my use. Plus their furnace method would ruin the chrome finish on the one I have. So, I need a new one. Ideas? This is for an internal balance 429-460. Some I have heard of: ATI: great but pricey, also their BBF unit has a BBC pulley bolt pattern, I think my MSD crank trigger is Ford only. BHJ: the same, great but pricey. Romac: anyone have a direct website, ie: a site that I can use to research them? Dealers? Powerbond: found their Australian site. Any US dealers? Need a pic of their BBF unit to take a look at bolt pattern. Thanks, David Cole My old one: ------------------ 557 BBF Powered, alcohol injected rear engine dragster. 4.90 @ 143 1/8 mile. 1.09 60'. I've got to be crazy to drive this thing. [This message has been edited by Dave_C (edited 01-03-2005).]

We've been using the TCI "Rattler" for about 7 years now - nothing to wear out.Brother has one on his 383 (soon to be 425) stroker - no problems there either. Only problem we had, was the first crank we used it on was small on the snout diameter. Everything fit - as it turns out too good! Kinda fretted it self to the crank, broke a puller getting it off - honed the damper works on present crank fine. That fit is real important - like size for size. I think any name brand TCI, ATI or Fluidamper would be fine - we just got good pricing on TCI at the time. Only thing is they all cost money! The Cyco one was SFI approved? ------------------ Fred 68 Mustang 500CID/Powerglide - "No Tubs" 86 Mustang GT Cobra

Thanks guys,Yes, the Cyco one was SFI approved. It's just made by them. Relabled and sold through Ford Racing. (MIne was older and had "Ford Motorsport" engraved on it. Starting to narrow it down. Looking at the BHJ for sure.

I ran a Fluidamper on my 466 until I got tired of exploding engines. Bought the ATI & on the bottle with a messed up trans & some moron (me) putting an 8800 chip in it, hit the limiter twice, no problems
