Wow! Just got done combing over the CHI website. I didn't know they had everything set up for a Windsor block. This is another wrinkle in my quest for the perfect 10.90 motor for my bracket 69 Cougar. My two 69 blocks would look sweeeeeet with big, shiny, aluminum, Cleveland heads!! Anybody running this stuff on a Windsor??

The CHI, Ford Motorsport (high port and Yates), Brodix, and Blue Thunder aluminum Cleveland heads are all designed to be used on either Windsor or Cleveland blocks. The Ford Motorsport heads come with a set of plugs that you swap around to plug the appropriate water passages (Cleveland heads have a dry manifold, Windsors are wet).

Remember the Windsor has a taller deck height (9.2" versus 9.5") and the CHI heads have a slightly raised (0.4") exhasut port relative to a 351C, so make sure your headers will clear.

Im aware of all the needed swap info for Clevors, I was just really impressed with the design of the CHI head, but more importantly the Windsor specific manifold and the thermostat housing.

You may want to look into the Dominator flange intake. Dave Mclain tested both the Dominator and 4150 manifolds on his EMC entry and said the Dominator flange worked better even with the 4150HP carb he used. The 4150 version has a fairly small opening and might benefit from some work to lay back the opening.

Thanks for the manifold tip DJ. Is some type of adapter plate used to mate the 4150 style to the dominator?? I've never had a dominator carb or manifold, so Im not sure if the base dimensions where the carb bolts to the manifold are the same. And is the fella you talked about with experience using the stuff on this forum?

I'm not sure about the bolt pattern but the opening is sculpted, sort of unshrouding the carb butterflies. I think Dave did run a spacer. Dave Mclain isn't on this forum but he does frequent the 335 series forum. He built the CHI-headed Team 335 engine for the Engine Masters competition. He used a Cleveland block. The only entrant to use a Windsor block was Scott Main (of MPG Heads) who used a Dart 8.2" deck block for Boss 302 clone.

Dominator bolt pattern is wider. When I bought my motor it came with an adapter to put a dommy on a 4150 intake. The top of the adapter is much wider than the bottom.

Thanks again DJ, and KID. Im going to have to do more research on this stuff, looks nice. Have to find out about pistons and headers. I guess thats the nice thing of taking a loooong time to get the chassis done, is research time for the avenue I will be going with the engine program. I have to go knock off a bank now.
