i bought a Milodon dipstick for my 351C Boss..it has no markings at all.. now here's my catch..i dont have a Dipstick or a standard oilpan.. i have 4 pans , all are alterdthe problem is.. Ford used a recalibrated stick for the Boss versions..6 qts for the 351Boss versus 5qts for the normal 351C with a standard oilpan..both used the same pan.. does someone have a 351Boss who could measure the settings for full and add??? if you could measure from the markings to the top end of the cap, which goes over the dipstick pipe.. so then i can take these settings and mark them on my Milodon stick... thanx Ben

With custom pans the oil level is sometimes different than stock pans. Your main concern is to make sure that the pickup is positioned about 1/4" from the bottom and in a spot where it will stay under oil during hard turns or violent launches so it doesnt lose suction. After setting the pickup tube in a 6 or 7 qt pan, I usually just add 5qts then mark the stick at that point, then add 1 more qt and make a mark for full. 6 qts is plenty in my book. With good oil control and thin oil you can even get away with 4 qts. The farther you keep the oil away from the crank and the least amount of oil you use, the more HP and less windage you have.------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank, rods and girdle, TFS alum. heads, Stealth 8020 intake, Xtreme 268 Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi. 11.50 @ 116 mph (7.33 @ 93 mph)daily driver! hmmm.. that's a good approach for this.. i like it...i think i'm gonna try this.... pick up is OK..like you said. it's 1/4 to 1/2 from the bottom.. it still has all the baffle's inside.. including the one in the bottom with the large hole where the pickup goes thru thanx!! Ben
