I am in the process of either having my T-5 Rebuilt or buy a different tranny..In communicating with Modern Drivelines,,a performance transmission shop in San Jose, CA,, they are recommending buying a New T-5z for $950 with my tranny as a trade in.. http://www.moderndriveline.com/index.htm The price would be a push to rebuild with stronger gears, the old case is not as strong of a box.. All I know is I am tired of buying someone elses used tranny that is ready to go bad.. If anyone has experience with Modern Drivelines or you any comments,, it would be appreciated.. ------------------ Don 6T6 Fastback 331 STROKER, T-5 Royal Blue Metallic w/Red-Blue Ghost Flames http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/BigD.html First Time out.. 13.384 sec @ 103.388 mph

With nothing more than a t-5 manual, and a photo how-to-do it from a mustang mag, I rebuilt my first t-5 with minimal tools. (years ago) You would be surprised how easy it really is!! If I recall there is only one gear that needs pressed off, everything else you can do on the work bench. Look into it, you can rebuilt a T-5 4 or 5 times for $950.00

Theres even a handy dandy video out there to make it easier! I've got two of 'em that 3rd gear is basically wasted on both of them. So if you go about doing it. Lets hear how it comes out!Or are you just looking to step up to a more heavy duty transmission?

I went with the T-5Z from Ford Racing, nothing like a new tranny, never know what you're getting with used/rebuilt.------------------ Stuart MCA #48902 M&M #1091 67 stang 5 speed, 351W, Edelbrock Performer RPM package my photo page

Thanks for the replies and ideas.. I always wanted to rebuild a T-5.. I've read the manual and I tore down my first T-5 NWC.. It was scarey,, because when it said "you may need a puller" things just started falling apart.. I may try it with a little help from my friends..But,, I want to beef it up.. What does the z stand for on the new T-5's.. Why are old cases considered weeker.. ------------------ Don 6T6 Fastback 331 STROKER, T-5 Royal Blue Metallic w/Red-Blue Ghost Flames http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/BigD.html First Time out.. 13.384 sec @ 103.388 mph
