I am having issues with leaking AN fittings (Hose end to male fitting) and i wanted to know if it is possible that they are leaking because the surface on the inner portion of the hose end where the cone part of the male fitting mates to is a bit irregular (a pin sized ding). What do you guys think?

Your theory sounds plausible... I think that idea has merit.

Are you using something like teflon tape or some kind of wrap on the threads? Even though you have to be careful when using it, I always do.

Sounds possible. Has it leaked from the very first time you used it? If so, maybe it is leaking inside where the hose fits over the barb? I have had one fitting that leaked that way. I ended up replacing the fitting.

I never use teflon tape or teflon paste on any AN fittings. They dont require it, and normally wont leak when only hand tight.

It was the first time these fittings had been used and i hand tightned all of them but they still had leaks so i tightened them down a bit with a wrench but the leaks did not stop. I also pressure tested 2 of the lines and they had leaks from below the nut that screws onto the male fitting, which leads me to believe its something with the fittings not sealing properly rather than the hose not being on the barb correctly.

Does it make a difference that i wrapped some tape around the end of the cut hose then i placed the hose-end socket over that?

It should not cause the leak but I have another question are both ends you attaching AN? The reason I ask is that AN have a different angle than automotive fittings. If these are correct and there are no other scratchs on the flare surface you can use what we call in aviation "nickle seals". These are seals that are made of brass or nickle that fit over the male end before threading the fitting down.
