351 cleveland, Two barrel aussie heads with 800 DP holley. Car screams up to 6000 pretty quick with the edelbrock performer dual place. Would the wieand be an improvement?

you would probably lose some bottom end with the single plane intake but gain some in the high rpm range. just depends on how much you want to turn your engine. personally i like my power down low so i wont have to turn it so hard.

The performer is a really bad intake for 2v heads. Although the rpm may be going to 6k real quick, I would bet the power is dropping like a rock over 5000. I have ran both on the same motor, and with only an intake change, the weiand was almost half a second faster. And it was faster all over. 60' was quicker, mph was higher, etc. And this was on a mild motor that was being shifted at 5400 rpm.

IMHO, the only time a 2v performer is a good choice, is for a bone stock motor that someone wants to put a 4v carb on.

The performer is junk, but if you wait a few months, Edelbrock will have the new Edelbrock RPM on the market for the 2V heads. It doesn't look bad. Of coarse, nobody has one yet, so we don't know how good it will be.
If you just can't wait, go ahead with the Weiand.

I asked kid v the same question about a month ago. Using his experiance with both manifolds, I replaced my performer 2v with a Weiand Xcelerator. What a difference! Using a 1 inch 4 hole spacer I think I kept all of my low end, will gaining a real seat of the pants increase above 5k.
One note: Although the ports of the Xcelerator are bigger than the ports of the head, the manifold ports seem to sit quite a bit lower than the ports of the head while using the metal turkey pan gasket.
The first installation I used the turkey pan gasket, and looking through the intake plenum I could see quite a bit of the head on the bottom of the port. After seeing that the Fel-pro #1240 performance fiber gasket was at least twice as thick, I reinstalled the manifold with the #1240's thinking that the added thickness would raise the manifold. It did, and I would say it cut the mismatch in ports in half.
I don't know how the new Edelbrock Air-Gap will perform, but I don't think it would fit under my hood. I think you will be happy with the Xcelerator.

I'm running this combo on my cleveland and it screams all the way to 8400 rpms. The weiand is probably the best intake for that motor with those heads.

Is the Holley Street Dominator any good? The runners are pretty small and it's not very tall. Maybe they overdid it with the "street" mode?
