I bought some hose today from a local Fleet store that is made for high pressure. Will this work for heater hose also? It is about double the pressure of the heater hose and on the charts they had, both were rated for pressure at 70 degrees. Is it safe to run it?

Ya dustin, it should be safe, but why don't you just run regular heater hose? Or are you afraid of it bursting or something with that restrictor and the high volume pump?

Actually, the hose is the high pressure clear braided hose. It doesnt look bad at all once the air bubbles got out of the system. It was super hard but after it warmed up and had a heat cycle, its soft now.

I'm with Alex.. I'd keep a close eye on it if it only has a 70 degree rating.. Especially if it turned soft when it got warm..

WHOA!! I've been in "lurk" mode here for a hell of a long time, but I gotta speak up on this one. By vocation, I'm a pipefitter for "the General" and I've seen firsthand what happens when this type of product is inadvertently used outside of its'intended range of application. It's OK for running non-critical cold water or low-temp neutral solutions through, but it has NO place under the hood of your truck. PLEASE, do yourself a big favor and ditch that vinyl hose as quickly as you can. The 70* ambient temperature rating is a clear indicator of the products' intended service, and is the temperature at which the manufacturer rated the hose for optimum performance. It goes down quickly from there. "High pressure" does not equate to "high temperature". This stuff fatigues considerably with exposure to repeated/prolonged heat duty cycles and when it fails.... it FAILS. Please, please, please.... **** can that hose as quickly as you can. It's not worth the risk.

Goodyear make a great heater hose in red or black the hose not only has to deal with temp and pressure issues but chemicals as well like glycol and such. Get factory hose or Goodyear.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll be pulling that hose off in favor for some other actual heater hose. Just one of them things that looks kinda cool but would cost me in the long run. Thanks again.
