Well, I finally got around to getting my dragster certified. In my case it was a recertification with some new bars added to to the cage per new SFI requirements. Saturday, the NHRA tech man, Wayne Winningham came down to 'Bama from Clarksville, TN. We had 10 cars to certify. 4 of them some pretty cool Fords. All the Ford guys were friends of mine. Now, next on the agenda is getting my license. Even though I am confortable in the car, I've been running at Outlaw tracks where no license was required.
The Fords in attendance in various stages of undress:
72 Maverick w Art Morrison kit chassis, front end stretched 4". Powered by a 417 ci 9.5 deck/ C302B headed combo. Runs 6.0's 1/8 and is deadly. Track champ here 2 out of past 3 yrs Runner up the other yr.
98 Mustang with a 572 BBF. This car ran a 4.92 on a 600' track a week ago.
inside the shop where we did the certs. This is gonna be the bad boy. Full round tube 25.2 SFI spec (good to 6.00 1/4 mile) '76 F100! Got to be the only one of it's kind on the planet. Gonna run it in quick 8 and IHRA Top Sportsman. Already have the engine parts. 640" BBF, injected on alky with a hat.
My junk bringing up the rear. LOL
