Do you run a 1.08 or 1.12 4100 Autolite? ------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank, rods and girdle, TFS alum. heads, Stealth 8020 intake, Xtreme 268 Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi. 11.86 @ 116 mph (7.62 @ 93 mph)daily driver! We use the 1.08 Autolite carb on MM as required by NHRA/IHRA rules. Rules dictate OEM carb that was originally available on engine claimed! Unless you have a GM car (Edelbrock replacement Q-Jets and non computer carbs on computer engines), Mopar car (Jimmy Carter Competition Series replacments), or a 67 Shelby GT-500 (bogus letter from Carroll Shelby).

I figured you were running the 1.12(625?). So basically it's like they're forcing you to run a restrictor plate. What a bummer!

How do the secondaries work on these things? I found one in a junkyard without a tag on it. Bought it for $25. Looks like it had a recent rebuild, and has a C6 and a 1.08 cast on the side. Sure are some tiny butterflies! ------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank, rods and girdle, TFS alum. heads, Stealth 8020 intake, Xtreme 268 Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi. 11.50 @ 116 mph (7.33 @ 93 mph)daily driver! Everett, you know as well if not better than I do, that there were no solid lifter, 12 to 1 compression, aluminum intake, 850 Holley carbureted, C80E-N headed, 428 67 GT-500 Shelby Mustangs.

They are vacuum operated. The secondary diaphram is at the back of the main body. It looks like a big accelerator pump. There is a long thin rod that connects from a lever on the diaphram to the secondary linkage on the passenger side of the carb. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First SS/MA in the TENS! ooooohhhh, I think I know who you're talking about Alex. Did they used to run a 351 71 'stang? BTW, you have any write-ups on 4100 mods? I have a couple that I'd like to play around with......

I like the looks of this carb. Should make for a very sweet alternative to a 2 barrel. Nice oversized boosters and dedicated idle circuits should really be efficient. It could definately stand to lose some fat in some areas to optimize airflow though. Looks like Ford had a better idea way back then. Shame they didn't stick with it longer and make a big 4100 mechanical DP. They look way better than a Holley except for size.------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank, rods and girdle, TFS alum. heads, Stealth 8020 intake, Xtreme 268 Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi. 11.50 @ 116 mph (7.33 @ 93 mph)daily driver! Actually they did. FoMoCo engineer went to work for Holley and designed both DP and vacuum versions in the late 80's. They are great carbs.

Yes. Virtual 4100 Autolite duplicates, only better. Tony and I met the engineer at Memphis in 1988 and had a long conversation with him about the carbs. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First SS/MA in the TENS! What are those little tubes for, that extend down into the front and rear boosters? Are they necessary. The only numbers I could find on my carb are 6Z E on the ear just below the 1.08 casting. I had to be either a Mustang, Falcon, or Fairlane, right?------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank, rods and girdle, TFS alum. heads, Stealth 8020 intake, Xtreme 268 Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi. 11.50 @ 116 mph (7.33 @ 93 mph)daily driver! They are signal sensing tubes. I didn't even bother to think that there were versions for auto tranny, manual choke. I grew up around Rochester, Carter, and later Holleys, and these are a lot different. I checked out the Pony carb website and had no idea they charge $120 just for a core and $310 for a restoration!------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank, rods and girdle, TFS alum. heads, Stealth 8020 intake, Xtreme 268 Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi. 11.50 @ 116 mph (7.33 @ 93 mph)daily driver!
