Is it really? http://www.chiphortonracing.com/winning.htmlThere's a little Austin Healey on the West Coast owned by the Seiple family that may have won more $$$ than any other car over its 40 years of racing. Who got the most wins with one car? SteveW

i know chip personaly and he is a hell of a racer and a super nice guy. i dont know about the total $$$ winnings of him or the folks you are talking about. all i know is that he won the ihra summit championship in 2002. ( $200,000+) plus all his other winnings. he hasnt opened up his engine in several years and runs a 2bbl carb. he just buys a new one every 3-4 years and takes it out of the box and bolts it on and throws the old one in the garbage. he is currently undergoing cancer surgery recovery and awaiting his next operation. he is a tough old dude and i guarentee he will race again next year. by the way he won all those races and $$$ footbraking with only one leg!!! heel and toe!! here is the home page to his website. http://www.chiphortonracing.com/index2.html hell i cant help that he races a dodge!! i was at a race with him in early nov and was joking with him about me and him splitting the $$$ in the finals. he said,"hell you can have all the money, i just want the win!! i do this for fun" more of us need an attitude like his. i know i do. im through rambling now!! ------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-302-7.33 @92mph 1/8 1.54 60 ft. http://community.prestage.com/Member+Pages/789.aspx

Mike,Yes, I know of the legendary Chip and have all the respect for him! Glad to hear that he's a nice guy too. If his car is the winningest, that's great! I just wondered if there are any others that might compare. I like the way he doesn't tinker with the car, and think that has a LOT to do with his sucess. In his '88 article in SS magazine it said he runs a 750 dp'r with the secondaries disconnected. Is that why you run/ran a 2 barrel? We could all learn from Chip. Hope he does well with his cancer and gets back to winning rounds. SteveW

I too know Chip. I had the pleasure of meeting him at last years IHRA banquet. His accomplishments are quite remarkable considering the physical challenges he must over come. He is genuinly a nice guy. As far as his Dart being the winningest car in NHRA history..........I have some doubts. I know the Seipels for more years than I care to admit and it seems as if that AH has been winning as long as I have been racing. There is a guy named Wally Higby from MN who had a Nova with a similar record to Chips. Wally had only one arm and used a rope and pully attached to a clutch pedal to shift. Wally is as much a folk hero in the midwest as Chip is down south and the Seipels in the west. Chips NHRA claim may be a bit embelished, but nothing or nobody can deny the record IHRA season he had in 2002.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,& '04 First SS/MA in the TENS!
