I just piced up a 66 hardtop. It has a 347 10 to 1 comp, forged pistons, Edelbrock Victor Jr heads, TFS cam 542intake/563exhaust, Edelbrock manifold 600cfm carb and performer air gap, electronic magnetic ignition, 5 speed tremec 3550 and the rest of your bolt ons. I need to replace the radiator, brakes and put in power steering. What suggestions would you recommend on these items. This is my first classic most of the mustangs I've worked on were EFI.

I would swap the carb for a 750 double pumper, and maybe even upgrade the intake to a victor jr. and welcome to the site[This message has been edited by thumpin cat (edited 11-24-2004).] [This message has been edited by thumpin cat (edited 11-24-2004).]

I dont reccomend a factory style power steering setup unless you like fluid leaks. Maybe there are some aftermarket setups but I dont know for sure other than rack and pinion setups. And one of the best mods on my 65/66 is the fox body radiator. you would have to cut the radiator support but for me it was well worth it. What brakes does your car have? disc or drums? I may have a 70 stang front disc setup for sale since I want to go with strange or aerospace brakes.

Welcome to M&M There's a shop down in Mission Viejo called 'Mustangs and American Classics', the owner's name is Monroe. He's an interesting fellow, but he does very good work and stocks some very nice stuff. He's got very high quality standards, and his prices do reflect that (a bit on the pricey side) but he'll get you anything you need and it'll be top quality. Your new Pony Car sounds quite capable Post often, good to have you on board! ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

Thanks for the compliments No, I haven't gotten it to a dyno but I intend to. Does the Blacktop Dyno count? ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

Why do you think you need power steering? Maybe its something that an alignment job could fix?------------------ '68 coupe, '66 289 C code engine, edel 600cfm carb, performer intake, dual exhaust http://www.geocities.com/ottouk_77/68mustang.htm

Nice car 66-347,Welcome to M&M, and forget about girlie-man steering for your '66. If my 110 pound daughter can wheel her '66 all over for the past 6 years, you should be able to. SteveW

I know I will be fine with the manuel steering. It was once I drove it for the first time it was a big difference from my BMW

Yeah,A classic '66 Mustang is no BMW! But the manual steering is part of the nostalgia. Besides the early PS really sucked! Get used to it, or else we'll be calling you a "girlie-man". LOL SteveW
