just started to work on the subframe connectors and tractionbars.. i'd promised some pictures when is was comming along..so here they are,..what do you guys think of it??

not a very clear pic, but it's homemade and welded in..

the S/S trac-bars

and i also replaced the leafsprings before making the tracbars, they were sagged and bent ,so that's why the axle was 1"shifted to the right .. the car sits a 1,5" higher than before!!looks better ...

Don't know how much power you have - but you might want to consider boxing the spring perches. That'll likely be your next weak link.

The fabrication work looks great

I'm a little concerned with the way the traction bar mounts to the car frame. You're going to have a hellacious amount of force there. You might want to consider boxing the mount.

it's gonna be powered by a 351C Boss.. 4V quench heads, milled 0.024" , mild engine.. 10.4cr ,570"lift solid cam, roller rockers ,750 speed demon, mallory ign. combined with a 4speed toploader..

so i'll say roughly a 250-300hp at the rear wheels???..

and great tip about strengtening the frame connectings/spring perches.. i thought i was ok with it, but now it comes to my mind what happens when one bolt breaks....not funny..

This is the main part that bothers me. This front mount for the traction bar really needs to be connected on both sides. It won't last long the way it is... especially behind a 4-speed with guts.

p.s. these pictures are awfully huge for those poor guys still using a dial-up connection. (of course they come up instantly on my 3000k cable connection)

Good Luck!

When I first looked at it I thought the bar was just hanging in space - not finished. You're half way to a CalTrac design now, why not make the solid bushing and knuckle and be done with it?

I have one major concern!

You do realize that the purple rear end housing clashes with the orange shocks don't you?

@n2oMike, your're right,, i'm gonna change it so that it's connected on both sides..

@F551, i want to give it some movement,..as i recall, a caltrac has a bushing to absorb the first movement of the bar/rearaxle????,..this setup is solid in the middle,..so the bushing can absorb this movement

@Moneymaker,..that's why it's purple hahahahaha,..and the shocks are Koni's ,they came in that color,..but when i decide to box the spring perches, the purple is gone...

I did the same thing with the sub frame, but I cut in to my floor pans so I could feed it right into the middle of rear & front sub frame, a stright run,
