I paid about $135 including the new perches. I took the housing into the shop and boxed in the back side of the perches myself at home. This was about a year ago in CA.

What do you mean by boxing the back sides of the perches?

You weld in a piece of steel plate to keep the back of the perch from getting crushed when the rearend tries to rotate when you launch at the track. Hope this link with a picture works.http://www.network54.com/Forum/message?forumid=119419&messageid=1099630338

Thanks!I don't think I will have to go that far though. This is going to be for a 9" that I'm giving my Father for his 57 Chevy (I know ) project. You never know though. [This message has been edited by 68 S-code GT (edited 11-06-2004).]

Fellas, Don't forget; Moving the perches inward or outward to match up with the '57 spring width is fairly straightforward, but before you get too excited with the welder -- make sure you weld the perches on at the correct perch angle in relation to the pinion angle.....which is determined by what suspension & drivetrain (leafs, ladderbar, 4-link, 4spd or auto) you'll be using. The second trip to the fab shop is re-locate them - again - is quite embarrassing - don't ask me how I know! Ryan

Ryan, Taking these things into consideration is why I figured on farming this out but I don?t want to get hosed so I was asking what others paid or would charge. Otherwise I would chance it and hope for the best but I want it done right.------------------ Ed S. 68 S-code FB GT 4spd(now C6)/3.25 PS PDB 68 J-code(now 289) Cp Sprint"B" C4/3L00-9" PDB PS AC 99 F150 XLT Ext/cab, 4X4, 5.4L, 3L55

He really wanted a 61 Starliner again but they are few and far between so he settled on the 57.------------------ Ed S. 68 S-code FB GT 4spd(now C6)/3.25 PS PDB 68 J-code(now 289) Cp Sprint"B" C4/3L00-9" PDB PS AC 99 F150 XLT Ext/cab, 4X4, 5.4L, 3L55
