If you are running one,where did you install the sensor? I've read that you can tap the pan or install a "T" in the line to the cooler.
Just looking for advice.

Yes, I run one on MM. It is a Autometer mechanical unit that screws directly into the pan drain plug hole.
Autometer makes several adaptor fittings to accomodate the trans temp gauge probe.

And what temps should we look for? How hot is too hot? How cold is too cold?

Right! To the drain plug,why didn't I think of that? I'll throw a couple of magnets in the pan rather than using the magnetic plug.

Some years back I had one ran to a Turbo 350 pan. I had to run my aftermarket pan over to the local machine shop to have the drain plug threads matched to the sending unit w/o destroying the drain plug receiver. Only cost $5.

After it was installed the temp guage barely moved. I only had a 2400 stall and was running a tranny cooler as well as through the radiator.
