I am starting a build of a full roller 347 for my 65 fb. Working with a local builder by the name of Jim Ford, no kidding on the name. Taking my edelbrock heads to him for a flowbench test and possible head work depending on results this weekend. I am planning on a SCAT 9000 crank, h-beam rods and SRP pistons at this point, although we haven't committed yet to the rotating assembly parts. He's not to enthused about SCAT. 10.5 to 1 compression. 3.55 gears and a c4, that I don't want to change. Looking at several cams including the B303 Ford alpabet cam, Comp Cams XE266HR(216/224@50, 544/555, 112 lobe sep) or XE274HR (224/232@50, 555/565, 112 lobe sep) , or the new Edelbrock roller(227/234@50, 520/520, 112 lobe sep). Looking for around 400 hp, with good street manners, but also every weekend strip action next year.Any comments on cam selection?

scat is good and srp will be more than enough. once the numbers are in on the heads talk with a cam manufactor for the cam. your best choice is with a custom cam. you will need to adjust the stall speed on the converter to match the power band of the 347.

I just bought the SCAT9000 rotating assembly after a LOT of searching (mines a 331). Actually you might just save some money and buy the I beam rods with the cap screws (good to 600hp) Your stock block wont handle enough power to test the H beam rods. I had the H beams in mind until I realised it was just overbuilding.Im also looking at the comp cams hydraulic roller cams. and also looking for 400hp with street manners. A lot of folks with these engines have tried the 282S solid though and they liked it. ------------------ '68 coupe, '66 289 C code engine, edel 600cfm carb, performer intake, dual exhaust http://www.geocities.com/ottouk_77/68mustang.htm

Ditto on that
Your list of internals are almost identical to mine... and they've withstood almost 5000 miles of regular 7000 rpm blasts I mean, c'mon now... we don't build these things to cruise at 1/3 throttle, do we?
