I'll be installing a set of Ti. retainers next week. I was hoping some of you folks may have done this in the past. Success? My springs are capable of over 8500, so I'm hoping they'll free up some power.JD------------------ 65 Fairlane 289ci Top loader 9-inch w./ 5.13's 27"x10.5 cheaters

I have a set on my car. the biggest difference I've noticed is price, they're unreal high compared to regular. I run Manley retianers ------------------ JS "never submit yourself to scientific tests no matter how bad you need the money, for all you know they could have erased your memory and YOU WERE REALLY SOMEBODY BEFORE" 69 Mustang Pro ET Drag

Yeah Tbird, I am getting new machined steel locks. Both the retainers and the locks are 7 deg. I use Crane for lifters, pushrods, springs, locks and retainers. In order to maintain proper spring height, Crane designates "height copmarison" numbers to its retainers. My current retainers have a .100" comparison #, but Crane's only retainer with the proper spring dementions has a height comparison # of .040". Luckily, Crane offers locks that are offset an aditional .050", leaving my new spring height only .010" shorter then before. Cool. JD

Don't think you'll notice any difference, unless you have valve float now. The lighter weight will give you more rpms before valve float happens, plus less wear on the rest of the valve train, plus allmost indestructable. The only way you'll run faster is if the engine makes more power at higher rpms then you're turning it now.Roger
