Actually, about 15 years ago, I was at a race in Woodburn Oregon, & when I went thru Tech, the guy checking my car became quite indignant. He said" Why the hell did you put a Ford engine in such a nice Malibu!!" I guess the only Fairmonts most GM guys ever recall seeing were the swoopier Futura models. Funny how putting a GM engine in a FORD car is all fine & dandy, but this guy was seriously chocked, until I told him it was actually a Ford. A buddy of mine in Oregon has been racing a Vega SW with a Ford FE big block for over 20 years now. With the factory 428 CJ "snake" valve covers, & Tunnel Wedge 2x4 setup, it sure gets some double looks!!------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA M/Stock 302 5speed. It was when we had the M&M Gathering.. It was way back in the BS Era.. (Before SCOOP).. We had just tore apart the '85 GT Donor car for 6T6 and Rory was in the process of building his stocker.. I couldn't didn't need the parts and he was willing to grab anything I could stuff in the trunk.. He a good guy.. ------------------ Don 6T6 Fastback 331 STROKER, T-5 Royal Blue Metallic w/Red-Blue Ghost Flames http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/BigD.html

Ok now the truth comes out. I know my work always gets in the way. It's hard to make a living and have free time too. A few more years until the kids are out of the house then maybe I can take more time off. There are local car shows I don't even get to make it to. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. Don, Yes I have put several pieces that I bought from you (for a great price, too, Thanks! )to use on the Mustang, the rest is waiting for future use. Scoop: the M&M meeting in Reno was a few years ago, my wife & I headed to Reno on our way home from a DisneyLand vacation earlier on. Met a bunch of M&Mers, had a great meal at the PepperMill, & got to watch Alex "discuss" SB Fords with a local, who almost got kicked out for "spirited" use of his gas pedal in the parking lot of the show. Lots of fun looking thru each others photo albums. Scoop, is that big black VW Beetle/Spider still lurking on the rooftop in Reno? ------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA M/Stock 302 5speed. Yeah the spider is still there. It's been around the area for a long time. It's on top of a fire station now.------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics
