ive tried a few times this year to get better timeslips by fattening the carb up when the air cooled off in the evenings. i havent seen any results, just a lot of receipts for bowl gaskets. it seems to be a pattern that the car always runs best right off the trailer and you guys know that your first pass (cold driver) is never the best. i run an electric fan, griffin radiator, 180 stat, and stock water pump. i dont leave the car running or the battery on because the fan pulls the battery down. just wondering do any of you run without a stat? im thinking it will take the fan longer to come on so should i bypass the fan thermostat switch and will the fan cost hp if its on during a pass since it seems to pull a lot off the alternator? october is almost over, im doing all my "hail marys" now.------------------ coupe, 306, 4 speed, 4.11's. pump gas, n/a street car. best so far is 7.50 (1/8 mile) at 92mph with 1.63 60ft. time.

KK's car is set up so if the ignition is on, the electric water pump drive runs. The fan is still attached to the waterpump. Stock water pump, 4 core radiator, no T-stat. Car will run the same ET if it is staged with 140* of water temp or at 180*.On all my stuff with electric fans, I always put them on a switch that I control.

Bracket car as of right now. With the pulley back on the water pump, mufflers, and street tires it could easily be street driven. When we do put it back on the street full time, it will get a T-stat.

I don't really know as we always have the temp over 150* when we pull out of the staging lanes. I do know this, if we don't warm it up when we get there (drive it around some), it is about .04 slower on that first pass. But I think that's due to the convertor not being warmed up.
