Hi, I am a nubie to this board. I'd like to know more about Money Maker's engine, "Moby Dick" , like what combination of parts he used and what kind of times he's running. Thanks, JD

JD, How do you like those 5.13 gears??!! I take it that you're running an 1/8 mile track? I had a set of 5.13s under my '69 Mustang, but they were too tall for my 1/4 mile track passes - my wide-ratio Toploader'd 302" would run out of of steam before the stripe! Actually, I run 1/4 mile. I originally ran 3.90's, but never got a chance to grab 4th gear. So, I checked Edelbrock's online calculation section, and did the math. Now I'm at about 6200 through the traps. A little better, but ET's are still a little disappointing. JD------------------ 65 Fairlane 289ci Top loader 9-inch w./ 5.13's 27"x10.5 cheaters

Well, when you drive a Nash that don't go especially fast, you load the back up with ballast and shoot for the sky. It's actually more surprising than scary initially. You have to steer with your eyes out the drivers window to have some proximity of where you will land. If you start veering one way or another while in the air then you short shift. You never ever panic and just lift which is what a lot of guys have a tendancy to do.

These are the things the average racer just doesn't think about(steering while looking out the driver's window!)...until he can't see where he's going anymore! I'd love to have that problem. JD

I think some wheel-standers use individual levers for each rear brake. Pull on the right stick, go right. Pull on the left stick, go left. I don't know for sure, though. JD[This message has been edited by johnny 4-speed (edited 10-20-2004).]

LOL Don, I was the same way. The first time I got to the track, at least since I was a teenager. I made plenty of mistakes. My dad was with me. The more runs I made the better I got. That day I made 14 runs.
