I have an Eagle 347 rotating assembly that I am soon going to have balanced. I also have an expensive aluminum hub harmonic balancer that is zero balanced. Would it be worth the expense and effort to internaly balance the engine or spend another 300.00 on a new balancer? What would be the best performance vrs. cost? Are there any other options I'm missing?

There is no balance better than an internal zero method. Revs quicker, easier on all parts, lasts longer. Thanks Alex. That was my original thought, then visions of 90lbs of mallory in my crank caused me to second guess myself. Thanks for all the help with all the major decisions I've made over the years too.

Im goin through the same desicion as you. What Ive been thinkin of is just getting the new eagle crank designed for internal balancing without mallory and sell the other crank to cover most the cost.

Is it a vibration dampner or just a aluminum hub. Internally balanced is best, but if you are using just a liteweight solid hub it can be real hard on the crankshaft. Roger

The harmonic damper has an aluminum hub with a steel outer ring. The total weight of the unit is approx 8 lbs. I also plan to use an aluminum flywheel and not go over 6500? I figure with the low bob weight and the aluminum gear the engine should rev pretty quick.
