Found a good deal on some Hoosier 28X10 stickies. Can anybody tell me if they will fit under a 70 fastback Mustang, stock width 8 inch? If so, what backspacing will I need to get it done. Also, would a set of 29x9's fit under it?

Thanks in advance.

Years ago, I used to use 10x28-15 Goodyear slicks on my 70 Mach 1, they fit no problem, but I don`t recall what the backspace was. As for the 29" slicks, I seem to recall that they will likely be too close to the front of the wheel opening.

I had a set of them on my 69 before I back-halfed and tubbed it. The fit, but will need some surgery to fit.

Main problem was the inner wheelhouse. The section width on these tires is over 12". The would rub on the inside above the frame rail. 3 o'clock positon on the passenger side. 9 o'clock on the side. Took some work with a 4lb hammer. If I remember right I also rolled the front edge of the outside body just a touch.

That was using a 15X8 Draglite with 5" backspacing *but* my rearend was 1" wider than stock on each side. The 5" backspacing put the tire in the same location as a 4" backspace wheel with a stock rearend width.
