And if the floor has been modified, it will need a full cage instead of just a rollbar (I got bit by that one once with my granda, that's how I know.) And if it has a cage, it needs a window net.

Not really, If it is required by the rules to have a cage, then you need a window net. I have a cage in the other car with no window net. No problem since the car isn't required to have the cage. SteveW

My point was, if the floor has been altered then it is required to have a cage even to run in the 10's, and like you said, then it has to have a window net.

I know, but we were talking about stock full bodied cars. There are all kinds of tougher rules for modified floors, open cockpits, speed over 135 mph, etc. SteveW

My granada was a 'stock' full bodied car (still had the factory wheelwells in it), but a section of the floor had been altered for the ladderbars. And they (NHRA) b*tched about it running in the 10's with a 6 pt roll bar and an altered floor. Because of that, I couldn't run Super Street with it.

Kid, where was the floor section cut out of your Granada? If it was behind the main hoop, it shouldn`t matter. My Fairmont is "back halved", everything from the front bumper to the main hoop of my roll BAR is OEM, however, everything behind the hoop is aluminum. Realistically, the main differances between a bar & a cage is all foreward of the main hoop, what is done behind there shouldn`t matter. I`ve ran my car in NHRA Super Street at national & divisional meets, never a problem in Tech. However, a buddy`s 78 Malibu was built with a similar back half, except his stock floor ended about 6" in front of the main hoop. NHRA Tech made him use a complete roll cage. His Malibu is a mid 10 second car. One interesting side note;, in NHRA Stock eliminator, a roll bar is OK, despite several "A" cars having ran in the high 9`s. In Stock, you don`t even need a SFI jacket on those 9 second runs, but on a bracket car, you need a jacket for 11.99 & quicker!!------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA M/Stock 302 5speed. The floor was cut about 4" in front of the hoop and extending back to right over the rear (the trunk was still factory steel.) It was a couple of inches wider than the ladderbars were apart and was done entirely for clearance. I kind of think it was a matter also of the guy that was the head of division 5 tech was a jerk. No one liked him, and he would do some really stupid crap. There was more than one time where we would show up at the bracket finals and the rules would be changed from what they were at the start of the year. Example, one year our track manager called him at the start of the year to find out if in Pro if transbrakes and 2 steps would be legal (that seemed to change yearly.) He said yes they were. We arrived at the finals and were handed a sheet of paper as we pulled thru the gate saying transbrakes were legal in Pro, but 2 steps weren't and they needed removed from the car. When our manager asked about it, the reasoning was, "He didn't like them." After all the track managers stormed the tower on the second day and raised hell about it, he changed it back to the originall ruling. But I had already pulled mine out and made several passes without it (I did put it back right away.) A lot of other guys had also pulled thiers, and I'm sure some of the broken parts on the starting line was due to that. The next year, I put the Borlas on the car and figured if they couldn't hear it popping on the line they wouldn't catch it till later on. But, they didn't try to change the rule again. It's too bad I never got to run it at any 'real' super street events. It was great for it. It would normally run low 6.90's in the 1/8, and would run mid 10.80's. Plus, when I was 'on', it would go .5 oh on a pro tree and didn't need a delay box since I don't think I could've redlit with it. I won 2 super street races at our local track with it and finished second in points that year, 4 rounds out of first. I think I just hijacked this thread.

Roger: I know the kid who won the mustang at the FFW in Cordova. His name is Jim Winters Jr. His dad lives in Mason City, Iowa, and I believe Jr. lives in Illinois. He won the Street Ford class and won the Musyang in the run off for ir. He also went to the finals of the Box No Box race they had there too. He has a blue 65 Falcon. Its a really cool ride. I seen the trophy and Winners circle picture. He had the trophy signed by Billy and Shannon Glidden.. Very Cool!!!!!!!!!! Steve.

I saw Winters won it on Cordova's web page. His trailer says Storm Lake, I thought. We broke a rod racing him at the Scribner Neb. track at the NHRA bracket finals some years ago. I caught some kindof bug on Thurs. that week. Had it for several days. I was looking forward to that week-end. I'm planning to do Octoberfest there this week, at least the Sat. race. $15 to enter the box/no box race Sat. Can't pass that up! ------------------ 63 Falcon 377 Cleveland stroker Flying Toilet alchohol injection. 6.19 @ 110 MPH 1/8 mile 2002 Ranger FX4 daily driver 2000 F350 PSD Crew cab dually - Like commuting in a B52!! 98 US Cargo Phantom II 28'

His IHRA suspension must be up.
Based on his past, I would highly doubt the legality of his car also.

Kid, I kew he got suspended from IHRA but what for? As for the legality of his car goes, I looked that thing over from top to bottom and never saw anything strange. Did I miss something? He used to race at Humboldt and I have always found them guys to be very nice. Matter of fact, when we got our Falcon they were the first ones over with nice things to say. Why, how well do you know them? Just curious, Steve.

He got kicked out for getting extremely belligerant with an IHRA official at a National event. And he didn't do it just once, but he did it twice.
As for his car, I know for a fact this, he got caught running a timed throttle stop in a no electronics class at Eddyville and got kicked out. And as far as I'm concerned, once a cheater, always a cheater. And my experiance with them is they are a bunch of extremely arrogant jerks that don't know near enough to justify their arrogance.
