I was talking to some guys at the track yesterday and they were saying that if I took my RPM off and put a Victor Jr on it would pick my car up at least a tenth. I told them i didn't think it would help since I was only shifting at 6000. Well the one guy runs a Torino that has a 460 that he shifts at 6000 he said he went from a RPM to a Victor Jr and it picked him up 2 tenths. So what does everyone think would the swap help my car.

jerry, unless you can leave at 3500 or better, you might be hurting yourself.------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-302-7.33 @92mph 1/8 1.54 60 ft. http://community.prestage.com/Member+Pages/789.aspx

I think it would be quicker with the Vic Jr intake. How much quicker, I don't know. KK's motor has a Vic Jr on it, and it only gets shifted at 6000 rpm and it works real well (I did put a 1/2" 4 hoel spacer under the carb.) Her dad runs a pump gas 393W with a Vic Jr intake that gets shifted at 6k also, but he uses a powerglide trans instead of a Ford 3 speed. He decided earlier this year that he wanted more low end power thinking it would pick up ET, so he swapped the Jr intake for an RPM. The car did 60' a little quicker, but lost almost 2 tenths in the 1/8, and close to 3 mph. KK's car 60's a little slower than yours does now, but it runs a full 2+ tenths faster ET with less gear. But remember, I've been wrong before.

I say it's worth about 2-4 mph. I'm not sure if you'll see it in your e.t. though. I know it`s a different engine (I run a 428CJ FE in my Fairmont), but I put a new Victor intake on my 428 last year, replacing a mildly reworked 35+ year old Ford "Sidewinder" factory 427 dual plane. So far, the antique Ford piece is still quicker by 1/2 tenth & a full MPH. And this is on a low 10 second 4 speed car thats gets launched no lower than 6000 rpm!------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA M/Stock 302 5speed. I replaced the RPM with a Victor Jr on the 347. For the first few passes there was no difference in the trap MPH. But the 750DP was mounted on the intake with only a gasket due to hood clearance. I went with a cowl hood and a 1" HVH Aluminum 4 hole spacer with the backside milled to match the intake opening and picked up 2.5 mph also went up 4 jet sizes. I did pick up .2 on the ET, but my sixty foots still suck with either intake. ------------------ Mike Golliver MCA Gold Card Judge-Modifieds 65 Kcode coupe 347 stroker modified 5-speed MCA Retired 66 convertible-3 dueces and a 5-speed with a 289 89 T-Bird Super coupe 01 Mustang GT Convt
