Driving to the track the other day, and out of nowhere, the car turns into a cloud machine. White smoke out of the exhaust, and running like crap. Drive the car home, draining just about all the anti-freeze in it, but never go above 200 degrees. Oil is clean, not milked up. Do a compression check, all between 125-135 on each cylinder. So I think its the intake manifold gasket, tear off the intake, replace gasket (which looked ok), refill, start it up, seems ok for about 10 minutes. Then I start white smoke again, blowing antifreeze out the right tailpipe. Still no "milky oil", and compression is ok. Car is a 289, E-brock aluminum heads, E-brock Performer RPM manifold, 270H cam. Put the heads on 2 years ago. Could this still be a blown head gasket, even if the compression checks out?[This message has been edited by 65driver (edited 09-09-2004).]

Did you do a compression check with all the spark plugs out? If you only remove one cylinder at a time you may get a false reading.------------------ 1968 coupe 351W, Bored.030,Stock Crank, Stock Rods,Decked,KB Hyper. flat top pistons. Plugs were all in, removed one at a time. Why would this create a false reading?

65: Remove the belt off the water pump and start the motor, Remove the radiator cap and look for bubbles. If the head gasket is blown between the cylinder and a water jacket you won't see any water in the oil, But combustion gasses will enter the cooling system (Hence the Bubbles)P.S. Don't run the motor over 2 minutes ------------------ 1964-1/2 Mustang SS/L 289 4-Speed, 10.633 @ 124.83. West Coast Money Maker Racing Team Member
