I'd say copper due to the materials properties...but actual experience? I've only used copper.

I've used both and it depends on the application. Copper header gaskets are ok (but don't fit the windsor exhaust port), and dead soft aluminum collector gaskets are good too. The layered aluminum header gaskets are holding up very well, but the Earl's with the foil inserts are questionable. What brands are you looking at?SteveW

Just looking in the Jeg?s catalog there isn?t much of a choice. I can go with the Percy dead soft aluminum or Mr. Gasket copper and maybe Jeg?s them self for copper. It would be for a street car with a mild 289.

The Copper ones didn't line up with the exhaust ports on our Victor Jr heads. Had to grind most of the raised area off to "port match" them so there wasn't much sealing area left. You may be ok with stock heads, but check the fit first.SteveW
