How many of you run skinnies on the street? How does the car handle?I'm ordering front wheels and trying to decide between 4", 5" or 6" wheels. Thanks, Don

Stopping can be a bit squirrelly. Maintain a larger gap behind the car in front of you...

Thanks for the info. MT doesn't sell a radial skinny front is there anyone else selling a lightweight radial front drag tire? I've always heard don't mix radial and non-radial tires, is this fact or fiction? thanks, don

Don,You won't want to use a real drag tire on the front for the street. For one thing they will wear too fast. I was thinking M/T sportsman front's or a small radial street tire on the front. I run little street radials on the front of mine with ET streets on the back. Look at tire sizing charts on the net to get an idea of what std. size street tire you want to run, then get a wheel that is on the smaller side of their suggested rim width. Or run M/T sportsman fronts if you want bias plies. SteveW SteveW

skinny radials are pretty common. 60's and 70's Volvo, VW, MG, etc used 155R-15 to 185R-15 sizes. None of those cars handle awful but then total weight, it's distribution and suspension setup plays into that. These sizes will go on a 3.5" wide rim but you'd be better off with a 5" rim if handling is a concern. Keep in mind your lap times at the gymkhana will suffer compared to the 275/40ZR-17's everyone else has up front.

You have to watch the 3 1/2" wheels. Some/most of them are not legal on the street. 4" is ok. I have run both. Watch driving in the rain and you cant road race with them. There is no problem finding tires that will work. 185 or 195 even a 205/75r15 will work ok. Depends on how you want it to look in the wheel well. Also check the load range for your vehicle.
