I use the exhaust opening/intake closing method like Alex recommends. I have been adjusting the intake when the exhaust is just starting to open. When checking lash today I happened to notice that the lash on the intake opened up .001-.002 more when the exhaust valve was close to fully open. Does this mean I should adjust the intakes when the exhaust valve is almost fully open? Shouldn't the "lash" be the maximum gap between the rocker and valve tip with the valve on the seat?

When the exhaust just opens (pushrod comes up) adjust the intake.

When the intake closes 1/2-3/4 (pushrod goes down) set the exhaust.
