I've seen many racers ditching the hood (and other stuff like side windows)at the drags. Are there any improvements in the ET by removing these parts?? I've thought about it because right now I can't afford a glass hood or some Lexan windows. What do you guys think?Alex

Normally, its illegal to run without side windows. Running without a hood is legal so long as you have an air cleaner on it.I ran my old car with and without a hood, and really couldn't see any difference in the times. The only time I ever noticed an improvement in ET was when I sealed the hood scoop to the carb. No hood was the same ET as when I ran without a hood scoop. Unsealed hood scoop was slower than without a hood scoop. Sealed hood scoop was faster than all of the above.
