I recently replaced my incorrect 28oz flexplate on my 302 to the proper 50oz plate that fits the c4, My vibration is gone, but another problem arose, the slightly larger weight on the plate is scraping against the shield that is in front of it, has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?

I've had it happen before, just carefully file or grind a little bit off the weight. You won't be removing enough heavy metal to make a big difference.

shaving the metal off the weight, wouldnt affect the balance of it being its not much weight to begin with? would it not make the engine vibrate again, obviously not as much, but a little, creating a longevity issue?

just thinking about it again & seeing as I would have to remove the flexplate to properly shave it down, I guess I could just grind down the shield in the placed that it scraped?....Another thing, why would it scrape louder/quieter as the rpms change? at idle it only did it once & a while at higher rpms it it did it almost every revolution, I didnt think the flexplate should have any pressure moving forward or backward at all? or is it because of the converter swelling?
