Using my alloy windsor snr's with 212cc([email protected]) intake runners and a solid roller with about .600ish lift, what would be the optimum size 351w stroker to build to make power to about 6500/7000max?? 377,396,408,427? Running 10.2comp,4.1 rear, tremmec,

I would build a 393, a 408 or a 418. What are your real goals? Why do you feel that you NEED to turn 7000 rpm?

i built my motor under 6000 rpms 408w, it will never see past that even if i race it, i like power down low and mid range, thats where the strokers make their power.

If I can turn it to 7000 I want it to make power to 7.

I think your heads are too small to feed a larger stroker to 7,000 rpms. I'd like to see Victor Heads and Victor intake feeding a 408+ to 7,000 rpms. But, the piston speed of a 4" stroke at 7,000 rpms is 4,648' per minute. That's the same as a 302 turning 9,300 rpm. So you'll need the best bottom end too. Good luck,SteveW

Well if the power is good and peaks at 6000rpm why take it to 7000rpm ?------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

Even with the better heads, a 408W wont make enough power up there to justify spinning it that high. KK's brother uses a super victor intake and victor heads, and his runs the same ET whether he shifts it at 7000 rpm or 6200 rpm. Also, if you decide to build it to spin that high, your compression will be too low to work with the camshaft you will need to run.
If you really want to spin a stroker 7000 rpm, build a 377. The only downfall will be a similarly built 408 will outrun it with a substantial amount less rpm.

Thanks guys for your input. Would my heads be big enough for a 351stroker To turn 6000 or bit?

I had Windsor Sr heads on a 383W stroker. They were iron instead of aluminum, but the flow wasn't too far off from what you have. It had a roller as well .624/.628 265/[email protected]. It worked very well in the midrange. I shifted it at 6800. It would rev to 7200 with no problem, but wasnn't any faster than shifting at 6800. The heads were just running out of steam at that point. Based on my experience you could use your heads on a stroker 351W. They would flow enough for a larger stroker to around 6400 or so.
