I need that plug that goes in the rear oil gallery and presses in right underneath the intake manifold for my 302. Where could I get such an animal? My soft plug kit didn't include it

Any auto parts house that stocks Dorman should have it. IIRC it's about 3/4", + some crush tolerance ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

Haven't had any luck yet. You wouldn't happen to have a Dorman part number?

Isnt that the plug that sometimes blows out and causes problems? Theres a plug down there that some people will tap a thread into the block and screw a pipe plug into, then they drill a little hole into it to help oil the front timing chain.Am I thinking of a different plug? Just trying to help you the bother of finding a plug that maybe you can find an alternative. ------------------ '68 coupe, '66 289 C code engine, edel 600cfm carb, performer intake, dual exhaust http://www.geocities.com/ottouk_77/68mustang.htm

I checked a bare block I've got here in the garage, and all that's stamped on that plug is '3/4'. Got a set of dial calipers? Ask a parts guy for an assortment of 3/4" freeze plugs, measure them and pick one that's around .765-.770 (.015-.020 crush).
Phil, he's looking for the horizontal plug under the intake manifold. The galley plugs on the front of the block are frequently tapped and pluged (I do this to all my motors); they are soft plugs OEM. The rears are tapped and pluged. The drilled hole in the plug behind the timing gear is to lube the chain when a slinger is not used, or to help lubricate a bronze distributor gear if running a billet camshaft ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html [This message has been edited by V8 Thumper (edited 08-09-2004).]

For future reference, any machine shop will have boxes of these on hand and if you ask nicely they will just give you a few so you have spares.
