Is this how I would wire a 6al box to work with my duraspark dist, and where would my AutoMeter tach hook up ?http://www.msdignition.com/pdf/pdf17.pdf OR Would it be better to buy a MSD dist too. If so which one should I get ? I could sell the duraspark system to help pay for the dist. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. Bruce things are going good for me, how about yourself ?I know about the crane but I think I might have a great deal on a used 6al unit. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. Yes that is the right way to hook up the MSD. If you don't have the MSD the Crane is street & race distributor and HI-6 is the only way to go.

yup that is correct ron. just dont hook the violet wire to the violet wire. your tac plugs in with a 1/4 inch plug right next to where the dist wires come out of the box. your duraspark will work fine. thats what i run on my race car. you can actually use a small screwdriver to bend the tabs that hold the springs to make your full timing come in at about 2500 rpm.------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-302-7.33 @92mph 1/8 1.54 60 ft. http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/billswebsite/pg06.html

So I don't anything else to hook my AutoMeter to the box just plug it in and go ?Also does the 6al have a start retart ? ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. Just plug your Tach lead into the MSD Box and your all set to go. The Duraspark dis. will work fine. If you were to buy a new Distributor at a later time I would look into the Crane. Do you already own the MSD box?[This message has been edited by 69maverick (edited 08-07-2004).]

The duraspark module does....the color of the grommet dictates the retard amount, white being the most IIRC. not that it really applies to your question, lol. [This message has been edited by Buster (edited 08-07-2004).]

Buster the instuctions say not to use the white wire at all. The duraspark system has a start retart to it right ?My car starts real good now with the Duraspark system. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. Ron, I wasn't talking about the MSD system, just the Duraspark module and Yes, the Duraspark module does have a retard incorporated in it, that?s what I was referring to.
There is a grommet, most common modules are Blue in color, that?s where the wires exit the module box and that is what dictates the way module is designed, including the start retard feature. I?ve used the white grommet modules for engines that had problems starting hot, because it has more start timing retard built in then the blue module. I have no clue what the white wire is for on the MSD ignition module.

You can take the WHITE wire and connect it to a HIDDEN SWITCH and then to GROUND.. It becomes a SECURITY SWITCH.. When connected,, your engine WILL NOT START..------------------ Don 6T6 Fastback 331 STROKER,, WC T-5 Royal Blue Metallic w/Ghost Flames http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/BigD.html
