Melissa and I were out at our home track today, and realised how lucky we are to have such a great facility in our back yard. It's on ESPN2 tomorrow at 5:00 PT 8:00 ET tomorrow. Check it out and let us know what you think.... SteveW p.s. They've only spent $60,000,000 upgrading the place in the last three years, and it wasn't that bad before.

steve, How much of an incline at the shutdown area. Watching the qualifying today, the camera angles made it look very steep.Mike

Mike,It does look like a steep shutdown area, but it may be a 3-5 degrees uphill shutdown at most. The 1/4 looks like it's downhill, but it is as flat as it gets! It's been lazer checked a few times. We lost the #1 T.A. Dragster today in the catch net, then they added a layer of tires/foam blocks/tires/foam/then tires after the two catch nets which, of course follow the sand trap. It doesn't get much safer than this. SteveW

Steve, did you get to see Brian run at his first national event yesterday??? He was one of the few to "Top the Cops" later in the afternoon. Not many of us will get the opportunity to run in front of 100,000+ specatators at a national event and win... Congrats! P.S. The other winner was also a vintage mustang. It doesn't get much better.

What was Brian driving? The other winner was Spencer Neft in a '72 Mach 1 Mustang. Those are fun, more fun than watching Top Fuel. Melissa was undefeated against the cops at the Nationals, back in the day. SteveW

Hey guys, its Spencer. Thanks for the recognition, it sure was a blast. Were there really 100,000 plus there? Damn, it felt like just another Wednesday night once i was staged. And as far as Melissa going undefeated... maybe they'll ask me back next year and I'll take shot at doing that. (plus the light was slow on that first run or i would have had that pig)

I talked to the wife about making it down on the 6th of Sept she's all for it. I'll do some more looking in to it. Maybe we can get more people to show up. What are the times on the 6th and do they any TNT that day too ? ------------------ SCOOP

I'm going to try and make it. Will you be running YOUR car ? I want to trailer the car down so I'll bring the slicks for it. My dad wants to go too and run his 88GT. The trophy class will be a good start for me. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. Yea, you are lucky all right. I would love to run on a track like that! I'd bet my "home track" hasn't put in 100,000 in uprades in the last 20 years! Last sat. night the clocks weren't working, the PA was cutting in and out, they screwed around with the computer for 45 min. half way through the first round of super pro before they got it fixed and then had to re-run them all as well as pro eliminator. My buddy was called to the staging lanes and waited 3 hours before he finally got to run. There are no lights on the return road either! Oh well, it is the only game in town for a 200 mile radius, everybody complains but I'm happy it is still open. At the moment the owner is in a law suit with his brothers and other stock holders who are trying to take it away from him and bring it back to life so to speak. It could be good and it could be bad, time will tell.

Ron,Glens67 wants a door too Scoop! Maybe you can bring extras with you? LOL Remember to get a line lock working before then too. XR7,
Yeah I hear you about the other side. Glens67 and I are going to Eureka's Samoa drag strip in a couple weeks. Great people, and great et racing, but the track is a total opposite of Infineon. You have to dodge the pot holes and the best line is a "S", then the unmarked finish line makes it tough to drive the stripe. Especially when you only have less than a 1/4 mile to stop before you're in the sand dunes. The time slips are delivered by carrier pigeons and there aren't any scoreboards or win lights either. Well there is a win light but it's on the porta tree back at the starting line. The return road is an adventure too. You'll have to experience it to believe it. SteveW

SteveI went to Samoa while on my way to Reno (sorta on the way) Place really is in the sand dunes and the elevation changes 500% depending on high or low tide. I think the shutdown ends less than 50 ft from the high tide shoreline. I didn't even notice a return road... was it the sand? Certainly has to be good air there even though it's probably always a headwind.

Tom, They have a return road, little skinny paved road that winds through the dunes on the left side of the track. SteveW

We're back from our pilgramage to Samoa Drag Strip! Damn, it's late and I have to be at work at 7:00 tomorrow. The track was about the same as last year, only I ran it myself in the "other" car. Fun, and a great bunch of people up there. We all went a few rounds both days, just one round from the money for all three of us. We all ran new best et's too! Something to be said for racing on the beach. The track was exciting as hell, as you had to drive through the cracks and speed bumps, then get ready to stand on the brakes to make the return road. But after 15 passes I started getting used to it. SteveW
