I just got through running the car "ping free" for the first time. It was scarey at first, because after re-jetting the carb and downsizing the power valve, that was supposed to be the cure. Well it wasn't. After dropping on the carb, I still had ping, but it had moved to a higher RPM range. So I am reviewing everything, when I recall what the local speed shop guy mentioned. First, the local speed shop is a either hated or tolerated by the local race crew. I went there to get the jets & PV and we get to talking about what I have. Find out this guy's running the same cam in a 350 Ch*vy. He gives me some advice, and tells me to try moving the vacuum advance hose to the full vacuum port at the base of the carb from the timed port. Well, IT WORKED

I want to thank everyone here on the forum for your advise and guidance. I can't wait to get it on a dyno and see what she pulls. Charlie

...this would be in Rockville. It is just a block from work. If I need just a small item or accessory it is just to convenient not to use them. They really can't match the catalog stores like Summit or Jeg's. I have been in twice in the last two years and hardly ever before then. BUT the man helped me solve this problem, so I am grateful and will stop in on Monday to thank him.

How the big inch, blown fastback? Been to the mall lately?
