Anyone had trouble getting one? They are talking six weeks for mine! Any pros or cons? Jerry I know you have leak issues with yours, any fitment or quality issues? Anyone have one for a 460 to a PG that want to part with it?

I have had one in the past and won't buy another one. 8 out of 10 that I have seen leak when used with a stock glide case.

About the only time that they don't leak is when used with their Ultra Case. I think think the bell puts too much pressure on the pump mounting area of the case and causes the case to flex on launch when the fluid pressure is highest. The Ultra Case doesn't flex. BTW, a buddy of mine in NE Alabama has an Ultra Case for sale.

For my money the best adapter I have seen is an ATI adapter plate. It's 1/2" thick aluminum. Most of the plate adapters are 1/4" and will flex. I bought their whole kit for my dragster. It has the plate, all the hardware and a special converter to crank adapter (much better than the JW adapter). It lets you use a regular GM converter with std spacing (you don't have to order a converter for use with a midplate) They have a complete kit with SFI flexplate or you can get it without the flexplate. This kit makes trans removal super easy. You can even leave the starter in place since it bolts to the adapter and not the stock glide bellhousing.

The adapter comes 20"X24" and you cut it to fit around the outside. That way you can either just trace the outline of a stock block/trans plate on it or make it so you can use it as a true midplate with mounts to the chassis. But, it's easy to cut.

No experiance with them here.

But the motor I am looking at buying comes with one.

Bob, the older ones didn't have an oring around the pump bolts, the new ones do. Mine is an old one and leaks drove me crazy until i put a dab of thread sealant around the bolts.

I'll trade you my complete set up for a complete Lenco or G-Force set up! HA

This is the first PG, but its the same one ive been running since 97. I have been using a TCI adapter & it is a pain, studs pulling through, cracks, having to fabricate braces to help with flex, etc. I elected to go with the JW in hopes of less work AFTER installation. Just wondering what prob. I will encounter with one & seeking answers from those who have experience with them. First prob. is getting one. Mine is on back order & some have told me it can be as much as 3 months! If I had a Lenco it would be priced right, cause if I had one of those, it would be really hot & wouldnt have anything in it, Git it?, Five finger discount!

My car came with an Ultrabell, so I don't know if there were any problems with the initial installation. It does leak a little, but I'll do the silicone on the bolts when it comes out....this week. See my other post.

One thing I do know is that once tech. inspectors see the Ultrabell on the car, they could give a crap what the flexplate is. That tells me the safety aspect is impeccable.

Almost every racer I know that runs a Glide uses an Ultrabell. If they weren't good, that wouldn't be true.

I have an UltraBell in front of Melissa's C-4 and both have worked flawlessly for the last three years.

Dave's right though, when you get enough HP ( obviously this isn't me )
it pulls on the front pump bolts and causes the front pump to leak. some racers cure this by machining a reciever groove into the front pump facing to spread out the load on the entire facing. A buddy of mine in Jackson MS had this done to his but he was/is running 1200 HP

if I ever get to that level I'll just whoop out some green backs and buy a Lenco LOL

That's why I like the ATI plate I talked about in my my first reply. It's 1/2" thick 6061 aluminum vs the 1/4" plate of the TCI adapter. No flex, no studs pulling through, no cracks. I have one on my dragster, along with another friend of mine who has one on his. One other guy I know uses the same one in his 67 Mustang tube chassis car running 5.70's

The 1/2" plate is stiff enough that it think it actually braces the chassis.
