Yeah, I sent dad racing after some )(*^&$%^%*&^*$#%$ punk kid in a monte carlo wiped out my cougar Wed night after work. I havent been cleared to drive until monday. Im a bit sore in more ways than 1. Im hoping dad does well in the land of "eh" He said the car blew the tires off due to the track being poor and he could have gone in the 10.80 range at about 121 had it not spun.Tony

Yeah Im kinda ok I guess. Im pretty sore. Hit my head and was knocked out for a bit. I have bruises and some dizzyness that I didnt have before (lol) and am having some left ear trouble. My ribs hurt, my neck hurts and so on. I basically got "L" boned. A kid on his cell phone with no lights on after dark wasnt paying attention to what he was doing and slammed into me without braking at roughy 50 mph. My cougar will be a total loss as the roof is buckled, the frame is bent and more. From looking at it, you can tell the door is damaged, the left rear quater is damaged, the fender is smashed completely, the fiberglass nose cone is broken, the core support is pushed over as is the inner fender sheet metal. The strut was broken in 2. Thats all I could see when I looked at the car today. I will take pictures and post them before the car is towed away to the big scrap in the sky. It sucks cause I really loved that car. Just like part of the family. Speaking of family, I did talk to Dad. Between the rain, and track not being the greatest, and whatever else, He lost oil pressure I think while warming the car up in the pits. Last I talked with him, it was an oil pump issue and they were trying to chase parts. I havent heard anything from him in a few hours. I didnt want to bother the work going on. It sure is something else that pisses me off cause Im not there to help with things. Makes me wanna find the kid who hit me and slap him! Out west, Mark Tallent went a few 10.60's with his SS/L Mustang but lost first round via red light. I saw that Don Ken and Richie Pauley are still in after round 1 in stock.Hope to have more on this later on. Tony

I feel your pain... Hurt ribs can be a real bite in the bag. Especially if you gotta burp, sneeze, or get the hiccups. Lay low, think good thoughts for the Ol' Man and get yourself healed up before you head-slap the sh!t head that mowed you. Banged up ribs re-injure easily. ------------------ -Paul 70 Mach1 351C 79 Ranchero GT 97 Expedition XLT 5.4 00 SVT f150 Lightning 4149 of 4966 Born on: 06/26/2000 'If you're not the lead dog, the view never changes.'

Just talked to dad here at 9.30 central time and we broke a billet oil pump shaft somehow dead nuts in the middle. FJ Smith, who is a canadian racer we know has a 302 Crate motor in his show and they went to rob 1 from it so dad can run eliminations tomorrow. Also another 1 of our members is out there racing. He didnt get into details on who it is, but they had starter trouble. Got a starter from an auto parts store and it was junk so they came by and got 1 from us as we normally carry 2 spares. I'll update again later when I talk to dad.Tony

I talked to dad at about 2 am. He and Beth were worn our from chasing parts. They got MM back together and running again. This morning will be Rd 1 of eliminations sometime assuming it doesnt rain again. Dad will have to race Barry Poole in his GT/E T-Bird. 1 of the Ford camp will not make it past first round. Thanks for posting the pictures too! Its hard to believe the car was spinning the tires not much after those shots were taken and the car went 1.48 60 ft. In the other lane was the SS/MA car of Jim Fontana. Good people who are working hard on trying to make their car work better and run faster. Unfortunatly, they can only go 11.80's right now. More news when I hear about it! Thanks to everyone who was helping out up there, whoever you might be! Tony

1.20 pm NEWS IS GOOD!!!!!! Dad was able to win round 1. Good driving on the starting line after getting the head straight from all the problems and he had an .026 light. Dialed an 11.10 and went 11.22 flat out spinning the tires again. The track surface is gooey according to Beth. Oil pressure was in good shape. Now Im really pissed off that Im not there!!! As a side note I was looking at the national points standings and dad is #34 in Superstock and I am #40 in Stock. We both might be able to finish in the top 10 nationally this year if we can continue to drive well. More later when I hear about it! Tony PS, At least I feel a little better today than I did yesterday. Swelling is gone down and I dont hurt nearly as bad.

Thanks Steve. Im going to do that as much as possible. Its 3.55 pm and I just talked to dad who broke out smoking the front tires through the traps. 11.14 on an 11.19 dial at only 111. mph. Dad said the car hooked very hard and was just charging. He was on the brakes by the 1000 ft mark and still was way fast. Would have been a great race with both drivers in the .020 range on the tree. He's loading everything up for the trip home. He should be here, I assume by about 2 am. I doubt I'll be awake, but I'll be ready to help park some stuff when they get here. That is if they want to. I know its been a long weekend for them 2 out there. Dad can let everyone know whats going on when he makes it back online. Im betting tomorrow afternoon sometime. Tony

Hi guys, I was the one with the starter trouble. Alex was a great help to keep me running in the bracket class. It was nice to finally meet up with him. As for the track being gooey, it was something hot in the sun I'll tell you. I wonder what the actual track temp was? Alex, those gear reduction starters are a fine piece. I'm glad you got the car running with the replacement oil pump shaft. That would have been a long trip just to watch the races. Thanks again, Brian ps. Tony I hope you'll be feeling better soon! ------------------ 351c 4v clsd heads 60'1.580 1/8 [email protected] 1/4 [email protected] [This message has been edited by 70coupe (edited 08-02-2004).]
