So, in the near future (not long after I install the motor) I should have enough money to start lookin' for a set of aluminum heads. I'd really like to stay right at or under a 1,000 but I don't know whether thats possible. But if for another hundred or so I can get a much better set. Then thats not out of the question either. But like I said.. cheaper is always nicer. Theres a ton of heads out there it seems like and I'm just not sure which ones would be right for what I'm going to be running. So I was hoping some of you fine folks could help me out there. And for what I bought:87 HO 302 F303 cam (@.050: 220/220 512/512) Performer RPM Intake Performer 600 cfm Carb Flowtech Long Tube Headers I was told it had a set of 1.7's on it. But I don't believe this is true. Everything else on the motor is stock. This car will most likely never see the strip as well (not sure if that matters or helps make a decision) but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! And I hope I didn't leave anything out. I've been watching E-bay a lot to get an idea of what kind of heads I could get for under a 1,000 but pickin's seem to be slim. Maybe ya'll can help on some ideas!! Thanks! Luke

For that level of engine and that level of $$$$ you might look at the Performer RPM aluminum heads. You can get them mailorder for about $1080 new, complete.I put a set of them on an engine I built for my younger brother. They work well. The combo: .030 302, TRW forged flat tops (w valve reliefs) Comp 282S Solid flat tappet cam Performer RPM Aluminum heads 2.02/1.60 valves Performer RPM intake. Intake and heads are out-of-the-box stock. Harland Sharp roller rockers. 650 Holley DP 1 5/8 headers into Dynomax muffs w/dumps Stock distributor with Pertronix conversion and MSD 6Al. stock rods w ARP bolts and the whole assembly was re-balanced. It's in a 66 Mustang Coupe with 3.70 gears, C-4 with manual valve body and 10" PTC street/strip converter. He can and does drive the car anywhere and it runs the 1/8 mile in 7.60-7.70 (around 11.9-12.0 1/4 mile) Makes for a nice weekend car. Hey Dave I was wondering what kind of 60 times your brother gets and what does the PTC flash to in his car.

I was curious about these Ford Racing heads.... I've seen a couple here and there, but don't know much about them.. how do they compare to the RPM heads? Thanks again sorry for all the questions! Luke
