I am building a 69 XR-7 as a bracket car. Im caging the car now. It will have caltrac's, 4'11 spool, c-4 (probably transbraked) Basically the chassis will be stock eliminator -ish. But I will be using larger 28x11.5's slicks. Car should be around 3300 or so in weight. I have two 69 Windsors to use. Can I run into the 11 second range with the 69 Windsor heads using bigger valves ?(2.02x 1.60) Motor will be .30 over, stock stroke. Idears?

Yep, you can get into the 11's with them, if they are ported correctly. But unless you port them yourself, you would be money ahead to buy some aftermarket heads that are ready to go. Also, I don't think you can get a 2.02 intake valve and a 1.90 exhuast valve in them. All that I have ever seen use a 1.94 valve.

We ran 11.20's with old worn out GT-40 iron heads with KB dome pistons mild solid cam, Victor Jr, in a 84 Stang weighing 3000 lbs. We bought a set of Fords new Z-304 aluminum head and I am VERY impressed with them They are made by Canfield and are awesome out of the box. Hope this helps, Steve.

I've been as quick as 11-teens, and 7.0's in the 1/8 with a set of C9 heads with 1.94/1.60 valves. They have surprisingly small ports. I think they work well because of good consistent cross-section. They also have been milled .050. The rest of the motor consisted of stock rods, crank, and .210 dome .030 over speed pro pistons, and solid flat tappet cam. The car was a 67 stang at around 3100#, with a C4. ------------------ '68 mustang 351 clevor- 10.92@124 '67 Stang, 351W -11.18@118 '69 351C Torino-14.90@100 '78 Pickup 351W-15.56@88 '79 Pickup 460 ET=??

I have a buddy back home that used ported '70 heads, stock rods, domed pistons, a Reed custom ground hydro cam, an Offey intake, and in a 3200# fox body it ran 10.80's on a 10" slick. He did have a Jerico trans behind it though.KK's motor runs on pump gas and has gone a best of 7.55 in the 1/8 using ported '69 heads in a car that I figure weighs at least 3300 lbs and was using a 4.11 gear. That et should have been in the high 11.80's.

Thanks to all . I was hoping to hear that they would, as I suspected. The cost issue isn't to large for me, the machine work to modify for screw in studs will be done by my bro-law who is also a partner this racing adventure. I may have to pay a few hundred for the porting from a "hook up". Thanks for the reminder on the 1.94 intake valve limitation.

I wish we would have had 1.94 valves. We ran low 11's with 1.84 valve heads!!! Anywho, you will be just fine.

I've been to norwalk a few times but never raced there. I've raced at Quaker City a few times and I used to race at the now-defunct Youngstown Drag City. I think the cam specs were around 255/260 @.050, with lift at around .570/.590 with 108 seperation. It was a custom Crane grind. In 1990 when I had it ground there wasn't alot of catalog grinds that appealed to me, so when I talked to Crane they came up with one that sounded pretty good, and it turned out working very well ------------------ '68 mustang 351 clevor- 10.92@124 '67 Stang, 351W -11.18@118 '69 351C Torino-14.90@100 '78 Pickup 351W-15.56@88 '79 Pickup 460 ET=??
