Very Few machine shops do this, I have found out the hard way. I have contacted Alex's builder Kuntz and left a message on his machine. I need to get my block sonic tested to see if it will stand an .080 overbore. I talked to Eric Simone today at Diamond Pistons and he is probably going to make me a set of custom pistons for a reasonable price. His only concern was the Long stroke, ( 4.5 ) and the pulling of the skirt out of the bore causing piston rock. I told him I would go with the 6.8 inch rod instead of the 6.7 to try to help this problem. he said this WOULD help and locate the pin higher up in the Piston, which will cause me to run a wedge of course in the oil ring. He was still a tad concerned about the skirt pulling low. He just went to work for them and I found out about them on the 385 series forum. This guy worked for Roucsh for several years in the Dyno room. Probe makes an off the shelf flat top for this application so that is also an option. I still can't make up my mind on a 30 over or an 80 over block, I guess we'll see what the sonic test says, if I ever find someone that can do it. ------------------ JS "never submit yourself to scientific tests no matter how bad you need the money, for all you know they could have erased your memory and YOU WERE REALLY SOMEBODY BEFORE" 69 Mustang Pro ET Drag

Ok I feel pretty stupid. I work for a pipeline company so we have a sonic tester here. Good grief. I've looked all over the ARk-MS-TN-Ala area and I had one 20 ft away. I guess I'll sonic check my own engine. Any body want to sonic check their motor while I got this thing Hot ? LOL JS

Jerry, I have the Probe flat tops that you speak of. Also have the 6.8 rods. It does pull them pretty far out of the bore. The skirt to crank counterweight clearance is very close. But, I've never had any problems. I would bet you D0VE block will handle the .080 easily. My C8 block checked good to .140 over (would be a 4.5 bore for 572ci!) But at .080 I have room for several rebuilds. It would much simpler if they made a shelf stock piston to do what you want, but they seem to only want to stock them in either .030 or .080 for the most part. I've still got the sonic check sheets on mine if you want to compare. My block was done by USA Racing Engines in Houston. PS: two other things 1. We need to plan a central location for a bracket race get together sometime this summer. You, me, Russ Hood, Mike along with some other Ford racers. Somewhere centrally located in the Southeast. 2. You should bring you car to Bowling Green, KY in Sept and run the bracket portion of the NMRA race this year. I'll be there. That's a great idea David but first I have to go to Jackson MS to see a buddy of mine who is a HAT guru, to sort my injection out. And I really hate bracket racing BUT I guess I could just this once since I'm set up for it. We have some new doorslammer index racing going on around here once a month that is looking very sweet. heads up on a 5.50 index and a 6.00 index, it must have doors on it. Pro tree so at least you think you're a pro. LOL
