What are some ways to quicken the car's reaction time? (and also the driver) I race at a track that uses a .400 pro tree and my car (and me!) can't leave that quick. I can't seem to cut better than a .130 light. The car has been running it's number the last few times out but I haven't been doing my job driving, getting frustrated with first round losses. On a good note, I replaced my broken third member and got back to the track last night and everything went well in that department!

Some cars just wont leave quick enough to cut a good lite on a .400 pro tree and there's not much you can do about it. Thats why NHRA dn IHRA both went to a .500 pro tree for their 10.90 class. The cars the class was designed for (back half cars)were having trouble cutting good lites on a .400 pro tree, so guys were all switching to tube chassis cars. The bodies didn't like that direction so they changed the tree.

Given the ET you are running, and the lites you are cutting, I would think you should be able to get down to around .090-.100 though.

Some things that will help are; if you arent allowed to deep stage, stage slowly, and once you get staged, bump in one more time. Run your front tires as 'hard' as you possibly can. If it says max pressure 35 lbs, run them there. That will help reduce the front tire rollout. Run as much air in your slicks as possible. That keeps them from wrinkling as much when it leaves, which causes it to react a little faster. Raise your launch rpm. If you have adjustable shocks, run them as stiff as possible. The car wont have to use as much energy to make that initial move.

I'm sure others will have more ideas.

Smaller front wheels will reduce your reaction time.
