I am looking for a bellhousing to mount a 460 to a toploader tranny. I found one that I was told was for a 460 but I wanted to make sure it would work before I buy it. The casting numbers are:

EITA-7505-AA

Does anyone know if this will work?

Thanks

I'm not at all familiar with that particular one but most late model trucks are hydraulic clutch. It may fit your tranny as the toploader and various NP and T-18/T19 4 speeds use that same pattern. Also you will need to use a flywheel that matches the flywheel diameter and offset if that differs. A common 351M-400 truck bellhousing will also work and uses a normal style throwout fork.

The only bellhousings that will work for your app are the C9AA 429 car unit or the D7 truck unit. Careful on the truck bell, some of the later ones had the ball pivot instead of the tab with slot for the fork hook up.

Toploaders were originally installed behind 429's in most Ford vehicles, Mustang, Cougar, Torino, Galaxie, etc.

The 429 Toploader was a big input (10 spline, 1 3/8" dia), big output (31 spline), and a close ratio (2.32:1 first gear). If your toploader is this configuration, you should be fine. You could use a wide ratio (2.78) behind the 429, but the torque capacity is significantly lower.

What does the ID tag on the side of the tranny say??
